This week: your whole marketing to-do list is five cards

No audit, no dashboard, no forty-item list. Just up to five cards, each one sentence and one button, for the things that genuinely need you.

Ask most marketing tools what to do next and they'll hand you an audit. Forty items, colour-coded, half of them in language you don't recognise. You read the first few, close the tab and get back to running your business. Nothing gets done, and next time the list is still there, a little longer.

The forty-item problem

The trouble isn't that the advice is wrong. It's that it treats you as the person who has to do all of it, and most of it isn't work that needs a person at all.

A long list also hides the few things that really matter. When everything is flagged, nothing stands out.

Up to five cards

The marketing suite does it differently. You see what genuinely needs you, and nothing else, as a short set of cards. Never more than five at a time.

Each card is one sentence and one button, written the way you'd say it yourself. For example:

Everything else is already done

Only the things that genuinely need a person appear on a card. If software can do it, it's already been done, quietly, before the cards were put together. You won't be asked to change a setting, tag a page or read a report.

What's left is the work only you can do: taking a photo, asking a customer you know, confirming something only you know is right.

Finished means gone

When you've done something, its card disappears. There's no archive of ticked boxes, no red badge counting what you haven't done, and nothing that builds up while you're busy.

If you miss a week, nothing piles up waiting to make you feel guilty. The next time you look, it simply shows what matters then.

A weekly rhythm, not a dashboard.

Dashboards are built to be watched, and most owners don't have time to watch anything. A handful of cards, done whenever it suits you, fits around a working week instead of competing with it. Over time those small things add up: the photos, the reviews and the details that make a local business easy to choose.
